New restaurant alert: Mamma Mia in Uptown Mall, Bonifacio Global City

From the guys behind other noted restaurants in Manila such as Parmigiano and Toni & Sergio, Mamma Mia is sprucing up the lively night scene at the ground floor of Uptown Mall in Bonifacio Global City. This new spot takes on a whole new level of Italian food, because here, it's all about enjoying good food and drinks with some great music to boot!

The restaurant is still on its early days so there's still a bit more refining to do with the menu and the kitchens, so it's still soft opening until Christmas week of December. But feel free to take a peek and start trying out their menu. Oh, and please don't hesitate to let them know if you have any comments and suggestions --- as they will definitely work on these things until next month.

Brand wise, Mamma Mia wants us Filipinos to immerse themselves with how Italians are passionate for eating and drinking all day and all night. I am aware that a lot of Italians live longer years because even though they eat all day, they choose the healthy stuff most of the time and prepare many of their dishes from scratch.

And according to them, this isn't just another Italian themed restaurant. Everyone can stay for as long as they want. Ooh, and I think they're going to let DJs play here too, so if you wish to have your party here, then do give Mamma Mia a try! Just looking at the restaurant's Hollywood-like signage at the ceiling adds to their homey and welcoming interiors.

Food is also super good, by the way, but I hope they don't change the quality that we got last weekend (some restaurants can promote well at first but does not bring justice to the food the next time you're around). We tried the sweet and salty Deep Fried Melon and Pumpkin wrapped in Proscuitto Al Forno, hearty Italian Bacon & Meatballs Bomb, and the fresh Italian staple, the Caprese for starters.

Do try to order the Crema Di Tartufo with Proscuitto Crudo, a pizza topped with truffle cream sauce, mozzarella cheese, prosciutto crudo, and because that's not enough, they added a fresh whole egg in the center, so slicing the pizza will make that egg yolk run on the sides of your hand as you bite into it. Delish!

The Risotto with Truffle and Porcini Mushrooms was divine. My friend Karla finished this entire plate after we had a few spoonfuls of risotto hehe. HI KARLA!

Their Grape Shake is as simple as it gets, but is super refreshing. I finished this right away! I guess coz I'm thirsty too, but this is a drink I would be happy to come back for at Mamma Mia.

We tried the Gelato too, and my favorite would be the Salted Caramel Gelato so far. I tried the Pistachio Gelato but personally it wasn't to my liking because I thought it was too milky. There's also a Dirty Mint Gelato but when I asked one of the guys (I think he's the manager) why it's 'dirty'. I wasn't exactly convinced about his answer when he mentioned that they still need to know all of the dishes and have more practice explaining each one. But knowing that they are still on soft opening, I'm sure there's a lot more to improve on, so go go go guys!

Mamma Mia is open everyday from 11am to 1am, but it also extends for as long as diners are still around. Check them out on Facebook to get to know more about their exclusive in-house events and promos!
