Brotzeit Philippines Opens Its Third Branch In Bonifacio Global City

Two nights ago, I decided to drop by at Brotzeit Glorietta to wait until the traffic subsides within the bustling Makati business district. Thanks to a couple of Weihenstephan beers, my growing angst on the idea of not getting home on time gradually went to a minimum. I can always count to Brotzeit during times like those, but I have yet to come back at Brotzeit's newest branch in BGC which is located right below Shangri-la Hotel at The Fort.

A few weeks back, I was able to attend the celebrations with The KTG (Kain Tulog Gang), a food collective which includes some of the most noted food bloggers in the country. Others who attended the event are media guys from publications such as Philippine Tatler, periodicals, noted food enthusiasts and some members of the Philippine Azkals Team.

Brotzeit, which means bread time in German, pertains to a a selection of savory snacks which is part of Bavarian cuisine. Pairing these items with beer keeps the tradition alive. One should also know that it's in Germany where Oktoberfest originated, so with that, we say Prost! (or 'cheers!' in German)

For starters, we were served with unlimited fresh open faced sandwiches with ham, cheese, pickled onions, tomatoes and red bell peppers.

The media event which took place during that night highlighted the Chef's Specials at Brotzeit - which are created especially with their noted beers and on top of that - all these yummy dishes are combined with some of their beer selections.

To start, the Pan Seared Sea Bass was perfectly cooked to enhance the texture of the fish. A fresh spritz of lemon cuts through the richness of the creamy Hollandaise sauce and the veggies just balances out the bold flavors in this dish.

The next dish prepared was Slow Roasted Pork in Dark Beer Sauce, paired with traditional Austrian / Bavarian side dishes like Napkin Dumplings and Bacon Cabbage Salad. Super tender pieces of pork with that dark beer sauce was just intense with its sweet and slightly peppery notes.

Another beer reduction was executed with the next dish - with roasted liver and creamy parsley potatoes. Fried onions on top was used in contrast to the braised dish. It was filling and as always - great with Brotzeit's German beers!

More napkin dumplings were used for the Veal Ragout infused with Lager beer which gave it that hoppy-kind of gravy that was interestingly good.

For dessert, beer battered Apple Slices ended our Bavarian feast with a sweet ending! Not only were these sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, a few scoops of vanilla ice cream and preserved winter berries added a cool and fruity vibe to it.
