One Of My Favorite Places in BGC: Tipple & Slaw

If I would be asked on where to go for some good casual grub and drinks while enjoying some cool music in BGC, I would simply answer 'Tipple and Slaw!' with all my freaking might.

Tipple & Slaw, located at The Forum Building near the Fort Strip, is known for their very casual and chill vibe that is a perfect setting for a great night out with friends. Aside from the local and imported selection of beers, they also offer some unique and drink-worthy cocktails while enjoying a mix of house music that becomes even more addicting to listen all throughout the night. As for the crowd, a number of yuppies frequent the place, but not a lot of people know that even during lunchtime many office workers would come here just to grab something quick while they are on their lunchbreaks.

Take for example, these fat and juicy in-house Chicken Nuggets served with three types of sauces, including honey mustard, catsup and one that tastes similar to the brown BBQ sauce that we use to love from another food joint. The nuggets are fat and juicy as I secretly hoped someone would hand me a cup of rice while I bite into this. 

Or maybe some Spam Bombs would be of interest to you. Who would have thought Spam, which is only the best canned food in the world, can be served in such a way? Small pieces are mixed in and made into croquettes, topped with nori strips and served with some ketchup and japanese dressing. It's a combination that's simple...yet hard imitate and with a taste you won't forget.

True enough, I found out that Tipple & Slaw even makes their own porchetta for their sandwiches. This Chopped Porchetta Sandwich is stuffed with herbs, smothered with pickled red onions and salsa verde. It's a man sandwich, but personally, this wasn't as threatening yet. The crunchy skin alone during that first bite already leaves you craving for more.

The Chili Dog, on the other hand, is not your typical game companion, but this one has chorizo chili, white onions, peppers and mozarella, and served with some homemade fries that resemble the Piknik snack I remember buying in school as recess during my childhood.

Chili Dog
Their sides are even as interesting as Tipple & Slaw's mains. You can only get Sriracha Mac n Cheese in this joint, and everyone loved this! You'd still get that creamy, cheesy goodness from the sauce, followed by a spicy hint of kick on your tongue after a few seconds. It's a real treat! The Tipple Coleslaw, made fresh with the right balance of greens and dressing also hits the right spots. It's sweet and tangy and crunchy and yummy!

Tipple Coleslaw
As a sucker for pasta, I love both their Three Sauce Pasta (made with fresh stewed tomaties, alfredo sauce and basil pesto - no meat in this corner) and the Chorizo and Bleu Cheese Pasta - which defenitely BLEU my tastebuds away! I love the spicy chorizo combined with the notes from the bleu cheese. Both are highly recommended for your picky palates :)

If some would have the Meatlover's Dream, Tipple & Slaw's Meat-zza would have to be the result of after you have dreamt something reallly good. (it may start with the letter O and ends with M if you are thinking the same thing hahahah!) Think pastrami, bacon, pieces of porchetta, mozarella and dollops of cream cheese in every slice.

I've also got a chance to try their Volcanic Wings, that's like one of the most delicious science projects ever. The reason these are so fat is because they are stuffed with blue cheese sauce that oozes entirely as you cut through it. It's so yummy that we had to order one more just to make it officially good (because one is simply not enough!)

Aside from the wings, another chicken staple is their Crispy Fried Chicken...
..oh..and with caviar by the way.

Another interesting highlight is their Foie Gras and Biscuits with only the best damn sausage gravy this part of BGC. Foie Gras is slowly becoming known to the FIlipino palate and with this dish I give a tap on the back to Chef Francis. The distinctive taste of biscuits and gravy will never be the same after trying this out at Tipple & Slaw.

Of course, let us not forget the drinks, now do we? My favorite would have to be their version of the Orange Julius (for those who frequent Greenhills and Unimart during the 80s-90s, Tipple & Slaw is the best place to rekindle your memory with this iconic drink), the Olive Oil Margarita or a few glasses of Old Fashioned to cap off your night.

And please, don't you ever forget to order the S'mores Ice Cream Sandwich, the newer version of what Chef Francis has offered when he first added this to the menu. It's vanilla ice cream sandwiched in graham biscuits, drenched in liquid, almost ganache-like chocolate and topped with torched and melted marshmallows. Now this is a dessert you don't want to miss.
