Potts Point Cafe in Eastwood: Serving Delano Coffee from Australia and Delicious Organic Food

For me, Eastwood is a place filled with so much memories; from the time where I was once just an employee who hopes for better things to come her way. After two previous jobs, dozens of night outs, laughter and tears, I officially left Eastwood last year. I've had my share of luck when I transferred to a job that I love, but sometimes I just want to go back to Eastwood to hang out, reminisce and catch up with the place that I have stayed for years.

I still get mixed feelings every time I see already closed establishments and new ones as well. One of which is Potts Point Cafe, a specialty coffee shop and restaurant that features local and organic ingredients that may tickle the fancy of the curious, the picky eaters and the food conscious. This new joint used to be Swensen's, which has now been relocated at The Block in SM North Edsa. The good news in all of this? Both Swensen's and Potts Point Cafe are spearheaded by the Guerrero's (who also owns Grilla Bar and Restaurant); so it's more of a win-win situation and a great opportunity for foodies to try something better for your health.

One of the things that most coffee shops (and other restaurants in general) would look these days are rustic, chalkboard menus and homey vibes. Potts Point Cafe made it a bit more detailed with the addition of wall accents such as books, jars and other thingamajigs.

This huge lamp at Potts Point Cafe can also become a good conversation piece.

When I went there, Potts Point Cafe was still on a dry run, so these cute little notes indicated some disclaimers should you not be that impressed with their service yet. However, I've observed the staff are friendly and that there is a big potential that Potts Point Cafe is gonna have a good following especially with all the food/drinks that I have tried.

By the way, Potts Point Cafe is currently the only place that offers Delano Coffee, a very prominent brand in Australia. So if you know people who have been longing for this coffee ever since they left the land down under, then this is a great opportunity to catch up with them with a cup of coffee.

Having to come from a gruesome schedule the night before and this morning, JV ordered a large Iced Mocha at Potts Point Cafe, which is a perfect accompaniment especially on a hot day and you wanted to perk yourself in a cooler way.

Meanwhile, I tried their Banana Berry Smoothie, which is made with blackberries, strawberries and a banana. You can opt to have it a bit sweeter or without any sugar/honey should you want to have a guilt free smoothie.

Another blogger tried the fresh Watermelon, Kiwi and Mint juice, which looked like how a Mexican Agua Fresca. Again, Potts Point Cafe has a way of keeping the sugar at a minimum, so if you want it a bit sweeter, then there's no harm in asking their servers.

If you think that Potts Point Cafe is only going to be about coffee and cakes, then brace yourself for a bit of fine dining experience when you try their breakfast staples, pasta and main courses. Starting off with this Grilled Three-Cheese Toast with Creamy Organic Tomato Puree Dip, which is humble in its own but packed with all the natural flavors, especially the dip. I never really dip my grilled cheese sandwich anywhere (usually it just goes straight to my mouth haha!), so this is something new to me.

Potts Point Cafe's Strawberry, Kiwi and Ricotta Cheese Crumpets with Organic Honey and Hot Chocolate (minus the hot chocolate on the photo below) is one of my favorites. It's like eating a healthier cheesecake actually. Plus the bread is toasted perfectly and the fruits in between are fresh and sweet! Ricotta is one of my guilty pleasures so anything with ricotta is a winning dish.

Craving for Eggs Ben? Fret no more because anyone living in Eastwood is now going to have their Eggs Ben fix thanks to Potts Point Cafe. Served with a healthy salad on the side, your typical combination of soft serve eggs, bread and ham is something to look forward to you. And this is available all day!

A pizza and a salad in one? Potts Point Cafe explores the world of hybrids in this dish. The Organic Sausage and Bacon Pizza Salad with Raspberry Vinaigrette is made with a tortilla like crust instead of a thick doughy bed of bread. It does look like pizza that you would normally cut into slices, but when I saw this dish, all I can think of was rolling it into a burrito type of food and walking...just walking away.

Squid Ink Pasta is always an adventure in a bowl, but Potts Point Cafe managed to add cherry tomatoes, arugula, fried calamari and Parmesan shavings and made it to a seafood pasta masterpiece.

I've had a few mouthfuls of this while trying to smile at JV asking him if I've had food stucked on my teeth (only to see my teeth all black). This may not be a good choice for first dates, but it's a great dish on the whole. I can see it as an opportunity to turn guys off if you don't like them, so this dish has a different purpose depending on the situation.

Cherry tomatoes is used quite a lot with the dishes at Potts Point Cafe, like this linguine dish made with roasted eggplant, creamy organic tomato sauce and topped with goat cheese. Their pastas are just divine (considering that the owners of Potts Point Cafe are also the same guys behind The Old Spaghetti House).

If you fancy a good pan-seared salmon, Potts Point Cafe has got you covered. They serve it with a creamy mashed potato, dill butter melting on top of the fish and having to serve it with beet root puree balances out the richness of the fish and the subtle starch flavor from the potatoes. Just lovely.

The best dish for everyone during that time? Yes, despite having some healthy choices from the menu, pork still wins. Feast on a huge slice of slow roasted pork belly (organic pork? great!) cooked vietnamese style, served with Nuoc Cham (sweet and tangy dipping sauce) and Pineapple Fried Rice. No words are left for me to explain the good things about this dish. You'll have to come over to Potts Point Cafe to find out.

In all my years trying to avoid desserts, I would have to say that Potts Point Cafe serves good endings to a great meal. All of the desserts I've tried are just divine! The Strawberry, Kiwi and Mango Trifle is like a surprise in a small glass, each layer turning out to bring you a burst of flavor. Great stuff!

Potts Point Cafe also serves this flourless Chocolate Cake a la mode style. Really decadent despite the lack of starch! Ooh I want to go back and get this one again soon.

And this walnut pie is a real pie! There's just too much to handle if you eat everything, so you better share this with a loved one (or a date!) Eitherway, it's delicious.
