Just WHAM-derful! Wham! Burgers and Sausages Launches New Store And Menu Revamp in SM North Edsa-The Block

Ever since I watched the movie 'Supersize Me', my love for fastfood burgers came to a halt, even though sometimes, maybe once or twice I still try and eat them (especially when it seems that I have no other choice but to buy one). After seeing all those hate post and videos about how notoriously bad fastfood burgers are for you, I decided and just made sure to avoid them as much as possible.

Of course, getting a 'real' burger is something else. In Manila burgers have already been accepted as an alternative to our local rice and viand combo meal. As much as each burger joint have its own style and flair when it comes to their menu items, I think that it still all comes down to overall satisfaction and value for money. And Wham! Burgers is one of those homegrown burger joints that we can consider. In fact, their first branch in Katipunan is still standing since 2001, but as they have recently revamped their brand, I tried visiting their SM North Edsa - The Block Branch a few weeks ago.

Their small but packed joint at The Block is a sign that Wham! Burgers and Sausages is now keeping up with their competitors through its new interiors and some new and improved items on their menu. The U-Turn Sausage on this poster looks mouthwatering.

Wham! Burgers and Sausages is one of those joints near the cinema area of SM North Edsa - The Block. When I went there, I noticed that the people who usually flock in this burger joint are movie goers, barkadas and families who are in need for a burger fix.

Wham! Burgers and Sausages introduced me to a world of yummy affordable gourmet burgers, which are big in size but just right when it comes to their prices. I just finished lunch when I went there, but it didn't stop me from trying all their mouthwatering burgers and dogs. For starters, I got The Whammer.

The Whammer is made with their signature patty (1/3 lb. pure beef), onion rings, tender loving care (tomato, lettuce, cheese), and bacon on a soft brioche bun. I knew then that I had to slice it into two for you guys to see it in all its glory. It's said to be a Wham Burger with all the added crunch, but all I can say is that it's really good. I love how the bun was able to hold everything well so you can savor each bite and exhale deeply through your nose and just say "mmm wow." And the lean to fat ratio content of the patty is very smart, combined with the perfect taste of char that is released through charcoal grilling the meat.

Even the dogs are at it too! Wham! Burgers and Sausages offer artisan and other sausages such as Kielbasa, Schublig with Cheese, Wieners and Swiss Sausage. This one, however, is their Beer Sausage, which is sausage simmered in beer (hence the name), and served with pickle relish and minced onions.

The next time I purchase this, I might request to order it on its own, without the mayonnaise (not a fan of mayonnaise in general), but it's a must for me to savor these kinds of sausages with a good amount of mustard and some 'shots' of hot sauce with. Then I topped it with pickles and onions and it's done. To be eating this while watching a movie just kept running in my mind.

It's also an opportunity for Wham! Burgers and Sausages to introduce the Holland beer brand called Bavaria to their customers. I'm not so sure about this, but if my memory is right, I believe they are one of the very few restaurants who are now offering this beer brand. Tried a few sips from my friend Hana, and I thought it was a cross between a lager and a light malted beer. Aside from this drink's smooth finish, there is no doubt that beer and burgers or beer and sausage are the most loved food combinations known to man.

And more burgers! Check out the Double Whammy with Cheese. It's twice the amount of Wham! Burgers and Sausages' signature 1/3 lb. patty with the usuals - ketchup, lettuce, tomato, mustard and cheese.

The Wham! Burger with fries is one of their classic combos. And just in case you didn't notice it, aside from the fact that their burgers don't have MSG (only char grilled with salt and pepper), most of their classic burgers are also served on  multi-grain seed buns.

At first, you'd think it's Spaghetti with some thick fat shaped pasta, but Wham! Burgers and Sausages also took a different direction when it comes to your usual chili cheese fries. How? By using Filipino style spaghetti sauce! The Spaghetti Fries is actually a hit especially with kids. I wonder how Jollibee fans would react on this though. I don't know if it's just me or the sauce tastes a bit similar compared to the red-fat-bee-that-we-all-love brand, only this one is meatier and has the texture of chili with beef.

If you do want a good amount of heat with your Wham! Burger, try the Kapow, which is topped with chili sauce, fresh in-house salsa, US cheese and slices of jalapeno peppers.

The Bronco, on the other hand, is a western style gourmet burger made with huge slabs of crispy bacon, onion slices, US cheese and barbecue sauce.

Just in case you are tired of the usual french fries, it's a must for you to try these yummy Pepper Poppers, which are not the usual potato tots, since each one is filled with creamy cheese and jalapeno pieces for that mild spicy kick.

And if you are a fan of sliders (or just want to taste different kinds of burger all at the same time), then try their 3-piece slider set, including their mini versions of their classic Wham! Burger, Bacon Burger and Cheese Burger. Best for pacifying one hungry person or three people on a diet.

For a quick lunch, dinner, or snack, there are a lot of items you can choose from the newly renovated and improved Wham! Burgers and Sausages. If you're too far from their SM North Edsa - The Block branch, you can find them along Katipunan and at SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
