I'm sure that a lot of you foodies may be curious on what Slappy Cakes offer, but basically, let me show you this quick Youtube clip of how it is at their flagship branch in Portland, Oregon.

Now, for those who haven't tried eating at Slappy Cakes before, or for others who have tried it either in Portland or Tokyo, here is my first hand experience on the newest pancake hub in the Philippines. But before that, I would like to let you in on a bit of trivia regarding Slappy Cakes Manila. And also, apologies for having a lot of me pictures.

Slappy Cakes Manila Trivia#1: Slappy Cakes Manila is the third branch in the world, and the second one in Asia. What's even better? Let's move on to

Slappy Cakes Manila Trivia #2: Slappy Cakes in the Philippines is currently in the works of branching out. But why wait for it when you can go to

Slappy Cakes Manila Trivia#3: The first home of Slappy Cakes Manila resides inside Eastwood City, and is said to be the largest Slappy Cakes branch to date. Although you have to still watch out, because soon they're gonna open a bigger branch on the northern side of Manila.

Slappy Cakes Manila Trivia#4: Slappy Cakes Manila's Menu is not entirely the exact one from Portland and Tokyo. I'll explain more on this later.

and finally....

Slappy Cakes Manila Trivia #5: Nope, this sexy model below being displayed inside Slappy Cakes Manila is not Hayley Williams of Paramore. She is Tana the Tattooed Lady. If you are into Yoga Tease, you would be familiar with this lady. She's a very know burlesque performer, pin-up girl and yoga instructor based in Portland.

I'm very happy that I got to be invited to Slappy Cakes Manila's Private Press Launch, which included a store blessing, meet and greet with the media, and my favorite part, eating! I am very fortunate to meet the representatives from the first three global stores from Japan, the Philippines, and Portland. I even got goosebumps when co-owner Adam from Portland told me that he read my rave-like blog post about Slappy Cakes. Well, at least he knew how excited I was to go there! Hehe!

Glad to meet Slappy Cakes' owner from Tokyo
More than that, I was very ecstatic to finally experience eating at Slappy Cakes Manila. During the launch, we were offered with a hefty number of samples of various pancake creations that we can also do on our own at Slappy Cakes Manila. With freshly made batters, you can choose anything you want depending on your preference. They have Buttermilk, Whole Grain, Peanut Butter, Vegan (gluten free, made with soy and no eggs), and mixes that are only currently available here in Manila, the Chocolate and Rice Cake Pancake Batters.

One of Slappy Cakes Manila's signature dishes is the Slappy Happy-noy, which you can check out once you visit their branch. It's a cross between pancakes and our usual breakfast meals, so you better try this one if you must.

Too cute!
The pancakes are so moist and perfectly cooked, fresh hot off the grill. These are some of the combinations that I tried: Whole Grain Pancakes with Mushrooms, Buttermilk Pancakes with Lemon Curd, Peanut Butter Pancakes with Chocolates Chips, Chocolate Pancakes with Mango, and Rice Cake Pancakes with Salted Egg, which is like griddled bibingka batter.

They also offered fresh fruit juices and shakes, like this Watermelon Shake and Orange Juice right here.

How about some fruity shooters that makes a perfect medley of cold and (making you) hot!

They also served these cute savory Tocino Potato Skewers, a breakfast staple turned into these fancy hors d'oeuvres; and one of their signatures, Slappy Cakes' Country Fried Bacon with slightly drizzled caramel sauce on each piece! Crispy on the outside, the thick and salty bacon inside, and a sweet taste from the sauce gives you a nerve reaction to get more and eat more! With that, I totally forgot about taking the picture of this dish. My bad.

Of course, the most exciting part was using the griddle on my table and making my own creations! Look at how I did it. And all I had to do was eat everything and start all over again :)

I think that aside from the unique concept itself, the pancakes are perfectly cooked everytime. I had no burning pancake situation, because mainly the griddles at Slappy Cakes Manila are electronic and works well even if you leave your pancake unflipped for a while. Of course, we don't want to leave them cooking until it gets burnt, but what I got instead was a crunchy crepe like texture instead.

I heart Slappy Cakes!

Made a pancake according to my OOTD!
I also got to chat with seatmates from Space Magazine / Rogue and also brought in some of my friends and made their own Slappy Cakes creations, and I even got to meet the group behind Slappy Cakes as well whom I wanted to say a big thank you for inviting me again!
