Di Masarap Maanghang Series: Bacon Wrapped Liver and Tofu Bites

"Di Masarap Maanghang" (It's not delicious, it's spicy) is a term that me and my old friend use mainly if we don't want to share food with each other because one of us really likes it. Talk about being selfish in a Filipino, jokingly way.

More so, it defines our after work nights when we just want to unwind after a stressful day. This is where we cook some different chows using odd ingredients, and serve it along with a few shots of hard liquor, beer or wine.

It was usually held during Tuesday nights, hence "Di Masarap Maanghang Tuesdays", but right now it evolved on any day where we can do some cooking instead. This post is is only one of the many chows that we have cooked for quite some time already, and for starters, I will share with you a certain bar food with my own added twist.

Sweet, salty and crunchy bacon.
Sweet and spicy, soft and buttery liver.
Chewy fried tofu.
All neatly packed in one bite.

It's SOOO GOOOD and it's one of the many interesting things that I've eaten so far.
And it's very easy to make.

Here is what and how you can do it:

Go to Supermarket.

Buy 5 pieces of chicken liver with the heart attached to it.
One small pack of either Maple or Honey cured Bacon.
1 small block of tofu.

Go home.

Fry tofu into 1/2 inch thick strips. Cut into 1/2 inch pieces.
Cut liver into small pieces.

Marinate liver in 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp. sugar, 1/2 tsp. chili powder, salt and pepper.

Bacon. Lay everything on top of each other so you could divide the bacon slices in half.

Time to wrap.
Tofu, on top of the liver, on top of the bacon.
Wrap and repeat.

Sprinkle all the pieces with ground black pepper.

Shallow fry.
Make sure not to burn yourself.

And make sure not to burn the bacon :)
Drain and lay on paper towel to take off excess oil.
